Hamm holds heavy hand in 2012 Best of Ohio from Thistledown

best-of-ohioThe Best of Ohio will be held at Thistledown on Friday, October 12. The series of championship races for Buckeye-breds starts with the 4th race – The John W. Galbreath for 2-year-old fillies. Leading stakes trainer Tim Hamm has two fillies entered as the top favorites – the question is – which one will run? That duo of Blazing Bling and Disappeared is also the favorites in the 6th race Juvenile over the boys. Top jock DeShawn Parker is named on both, so keep an eye out for Hamm’s final decision.

The 5th is the Best of Ohio Sprint and Sneak a Cold Treat is looking for a repeat effort of his win last year after finishing second in 2010. In the Juvenile Pyrite Green looks like the top challenger vs. the Hamm filly.  The Miquel Felicianao trainee had a huge wake-up call with a 10 1/2 length win last out.

The 7th race is the Distaff and may be the most contentious of the day, with Hamm still holding the biggest threat in Starting Something. Also in the field is the veteran Pay the Man and the promising 3-year-old Aggressive Elegance.

The 8th race finale in the 1 ¼ mile Endurance and for the first time in many years Catlaunch will not be in the field.  Eyes Super Freaky comes into the race off three consecutive wins at Thistledown, with his last in the 1 1/4 mile Governor’s Buckeye Cup.
