The jockeys room at River Downs has a good line up of apprentice riders this year and 22-year-old Cory Orm let his presence be known on Thursday.
The Louisville native had three mounts and scored with all three. "My grandfather, who just passed away, and my father were both jockeys so I've been around the sport most of my life," said Orm after winning the final race of the day coming from last to first. "I was about 13-years-old when I got into it full-blown starting at my Dad's farm in Taylorsville, Kentucky."
Orm is a natural lightweight and trainers enjoy getting the 5 lb. apprentice allowance with him in the saddle. After a good meet at Hoosier Park the young rider plans on riding at River Downs for the rest of the summer.
